Our Health and Social Care Department aims to enthuse and inspire all of our students, with the skills and knowledge necessary to work within the Health, Social Care and Early Years Sector. The curriculum that students follow enables them to immerse themselves in various scenarios and experiences, which are applied across the provision of Health and Social Care.

Across the Level 2 and Level 3 courses, students cover a range of topics including development across the life stages, care values, health and wellbeing, nutrition, psychology, health and safety, safeguarding and government legislations. All of the content covered across the courses provide students with the knowledge, understanding, skills and attributes required to work in the HSC sector.

During lessons students participate in research based activities, group tasks, practical application of learning and much more. Students are challenged, giving them the opportunity to discuss and explore current topics and issues, enabling them to develop their analysis, evaluation and independent study skills.

All of the courses delivered provide students with a realistic insight into the sectors of HSC. The skills and knowledge gained are transferable across different careers and sectors and provide invaluable experience preparing students for life after Archbishop Ilsley.

These include:

  • Guest speakers e.g. Psychologist, Counsellors, GP’s, Nurses etc.
