Message from the Head Teacher

March 2019

I would like to start by thanking you as parents and carers for your overwhelming support in helping us to maintain high standards at Archbishop Ilsley Catholic School. We often have visitors to the school and they always comment on the excellent standard of uniform and the courtesy displayed by our students. I am of the firm opinion that if we get the small things right, we will create the best platform for success.

This is a long and busy half-term, with final preparations for Y11 and Y13 public examinations. I know that this can be a very stressful time for families but please be assured that we are doing everything we can in school to support your children as they prepare for these critical examinations. Providing a quiet place for study, ensuring your child gets a good night’s sleep and providing healthy meals make a huge difference; I’d also strongly advise the supervision and where possible the removal of mobile phones!

We are about to enter the season of Lent and in school we will be raising money for a number of charitable causes, as well as marking key events such as Ash Wednesday. This is a very special time for us in school as we reflect on our lives and the sacrifice made by Jesus Christ.

May I wish you all a very happy and peaceful half-term.

God Bless

Helen Burrows Headteacher
