Dear Parent/Carer
In January 2021 the UK Government announced that it was no longer fair for pupils to sit examinations in that year due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Therefore, schools have been tasked with giving your child the opportunity to provide evidence to allow the awarding of a grade in the subjects they study. We strongly advise that you read our full policy which can be found on the school website.
Our procedures for the awarding of grades will follow the guidance provided by The Joint Council of Qualifications (JCQ).
Within the guidance published by the JCQ, it states that teachers will make the final judgment about what evidence is to be included when awarding a grade and that this is not up for negotiation. Students or parents may not influence the judgements that a teacher makes in awarding a Teacher Assessed Grade. Failure to comply with this may result in a student or parent/carer being reported to the JCQ
We can assure you that all judgements made regarding your child’s performance will be made objectively and based upon evidence that they have provided throughout their studies. Teaching staff have received training on how to do this and remove the effects of bias for all students.
We are aware that some pupils’ assessment performance may have been affected by circumstances that are out of their control, and may be entitled to special consideration in terms of the awarding of grades. The criteria for eligibility for this is very clear and set out in the document: JCQ – A guide to the special consideration process, with effect from 1 September 2020 . We strongly advise that you read this document and if you believe your child is eligible for special consideration of circumstances, please use the secure link below to provide us with the pertinent information.
If you feel that the school should be made aware of any further circumstances which may have affected your child, please click the link below to update our records. Applications should be made by Monday 24th May.

Applications made for special consideration will be reviewed by the SLT. Unfortunately we will not be able to give feedback as to whether special consideration has been applied to any child’s grade.
We would like to thank you for the support which you have provided your child at this time.
Yours Sincerely,
Mr P McDonald Mr A Morris
