Dear Parents and Carers

NEU Industrial Action – this Wednesday, 1st February

The teachers of Archbishop Ilsley are extremely committed to your child/children’s education. Last week, they worked late on Thursday evening to meet parents of Year 10 pupils, and, the week before, they represented the school at Sixth Form Opening Evening. In addition, they frequently give up their evenings and weekends to offer pupils an array of interesting extra-curricular opportunities.

As you will know from media coverage and the letter sent by Paul Ryan, CSEL & CEO of the St Teresa of Calcutta Multi Academy Company (STOC MAC) on 25th January, the National Education Union (NEU) have voted to strike on Wednesday 1st February. A large percentage of our teaching staff are members of this union.

Therefore, only Year 7, Year 11 and Year 13 should come into school this Wednesday, 1st February.

Pupils in Year 8, Year 9. Year 10 and Year 12 should not attend school on Wednesday 1st February.

Teachers will be asked to provide work on Google Classroom, but I cannot compel them to do so. Live ‘virtual’ remote learning will not take place.

If your child is vulnerable or you are a critical worker, please contact the school via the enquiry email and we will seek to accommodate your child, if capacity allows.

Thank you for your understanding.

Mr Ciaran Clinton
