Letter from Miss Burrows - 20th January 2021

Dear Parents, Carers and Pupils,

I'd like to begin this update with a reference to one of my favourite stories, 'Footprints in the Sand'. It is a man's reflection on his life and how the Lord has walked alongside him throughout the journey of his life, but at some points there are only one set of footprints. The man questions the Lord about this and the Lord replies:

"My precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints in the sand it was then that I carried you."

This story is a wonderful reminder that the Lord is always with us and that during really difficult times He will be there to carry us through. This message has such resonance with us now as we continue to live through the most challenging of times.

There are a number of things to update you on this week. Please read the following information carefully:

Free School Meals:

There has been a technical issue with the vouchers and we have contacted the DfE to rectify this as soon as possible. We will get the vouchers out to you as soon as we receive them. In the meantime, you can still order a packed lunch for collection each day.

Y11 and Y13:

OFQUAL have launched a consultation and we would recommend that pupils and parents look at the proposals. The link is as follows:

https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/consultation-on-how-gcse-as-and-a-level-grades-should-be-awarded-in-summer-2021

We will be writing to all pupils and parents later this week with some very important guidance on how we will be continuing to gather evidence for Teacher Assessed Grades in the interim.

Mass Testing:

On Tuesday 19th January we had Armed Forces personnel in school setting up a mass testing centre. However, we received notification that testing for pupils will be paused until further notice. We will keep you updated as and when we have further information. Key Worker Parents:

The advice is to keep your children at home wherever possible. If you do need to send your child to school due to childcare issues, please inform us in advance and ensure your child attends in full school uniform. Proof of key worker status will be required. I hope all of you are safe and well. We continue to pray for everyone in our school community and for a safer world.

God Bless

Miss Burrows
