Message from the Head Teacher - January 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you for your support in ensuring a positive and purposeful start to the new term. The students were impeccable and it was lovely to welcome them back safe and well from the holidays.

The report for our Catholic School Inspection is out and you should receive a hard copy this week. I am delighted with the report and I hope that you will be too.

Please read the information below and if you have any queries please contact your child’s tutor or Head of House.

UNIFORM

The standard of uniform at Archbishop Ilsley Catholic School is excellent. Your support in maintaining these standards is essential and we are very grateful for this.

We are in cold weather season and students should have a suitable winter coat. Hoodies and gilets are not permitted and will be confiscated if they are seen during the school day. Denim and leather jackets are also not permitted.

Girls can wear navy school trousers but they must be full length and not cropped.

SCHOOL WEBSITE AND COMMUNICATION

The world we live in is very much driven by technology and the internet. Our website is one of the main ways in which we communicate with you as well as through letters, emails and text messages.

In order for our text messaging system to work we do need your accurate contact details, especially for mobile phones. If you have changed your number please let us know as soon as possible so that we can update our records. Likewise, if your email address has changed, please inform us as soon as possible.

I would like to thank the vast majority of parents and carers who follow and support our policy on mobile phones. Most of you know how I feel about mobile phones in school and I believe we have a very realistic and sensible policy. Unfortunately, a very small minority of parents are not supporting us and are phoning or texting their child on their mobile phone during the school day. Could I please insist that you do not do this; if there is an emergency please ring school directly on 0121 706 4200.
