19th March 2020
Dear Parents/Carers,
I am sure most of you are aware that the government has taken the decision to close all schools after Friday 20th March until further notice.
Archbishop Ilsley Catholic School will close at 3.10 p.m. on Friday 20th March. At this time I am unable to confirm when school will be open again.
Students should not attend school and should access work on Google classrooms. Staff are currently working hard to upload work and resources for students to access. If your child is unable to access Google Classrooms please contact school before the end of Friday so that we can resolve any issues.
There are some children who will be entitled to attend school because of their personal circumstances. I will write to these families separately. There will also be some provision for children whose parents are classed as key workers. I am waiting for the government to provide me with the criteria for key workers and will post information on the school website as soon as I receive instructions. For now, if you work in frontline NHS or emergency services and think you will need assistance with child care, please contact the school before 11.30 a.m. on Friday 20th March.
We are aware that Y11 and Y13 are waiting for information regarding their cancelled examinations. I am expecting a response from the government shortly and as soon as I know what the plans are, they will be communicated to you as quickly as possible. I understand how worrying this is for students and their families but the Prime Minister has promised that they will not be disadvantaged.
Could I urge all families to monitor the school website where I will be posting any updates.
There is no doubt that we are living in very difficult times and that the unfolding Coronavirus situation is a worry for everyone. You and your families are in our thoughts and prayers and we pray that these challenging times will pass as quickly as possible.
God Bless
Miss Burrows
