Year 10 Return

As you know, the Government recently announced that students in Year 10 can be invited back into schools for some contact with teachers. Although it is limited and we have to obey strict guidelines, this is great news and we are really looking forward to seeing our students again.

We have arranged a schedule for year 10 that means you will be able to have three sessions in school with a selection of teachers from all of your subjects.

This will take place in the weeks of June 22nd to July 3rd.

Each student has been sent a personal letter with their individual schedule.

On your first day, you will meet with a teacher from each of the Core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science and Religious Studies.

On your second day, you will meet with a teacher from your Option A and Option B subjects.

On your third day, you will meet with a teacher from your Option C and Option D subjects.

Each session runs from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

During these sessions the teachers will ask you to let them know what you have struggled with while you have not been in lessons, as well as giving you some guidance for continuing with your learning at home.

After the sessions and during the remainder of this term, the teachers from all of the subjects will have meetings to put together your feedback. They will use this to make careful plans about exactly what we will need to do in each area of the curriculum from September, so that we can get you back on track.

It is important that you think about this in advance of rejoining us next week. Don’t worry that you have not been able to do as much as if you had been at school – we know how challenging this has been for everyone. Now we need to all work together to make as much progress as possible when we are all back in school.

To assist with the various safety guidelines we will be opening two entrances to school.

The first is the usual Victoria Road entrance.

This will be for those with surnames beginning with A to L.

The second is the entrance at Shirley Road (behind Jeffries Hardware shop).

This will be for those with surnames beginning with M to Z.

Teachers will meet you at the entrances and help to guide you to your location.

You should wear suitable comfortable clothing, not your usual Ilsley uniform, as you may want to wash clothing when you return home.

Washroom facilities will be open at all locations so that you can wash your hands upon arrival.

Classrooms will all have hand sanitiser for you to use.

Remember to follow the social distancing rules.

You should bring a drink and a snack with you, as we will not be able to run break and lunch time.

We are aware that some of you may not be able to attend. If this is the case, and you have not already done so, please let us know by contacting the school in advance, with the reason. We are required by the Department for Education to complete daily attendance returns for these sessions.

Once again, we are all looking forward to catching up with you.

See you next week!

Mr. Bloomer

Deputy Headteacher
