“The function of Sociology, as of every science, is to reveal that which is hidden.”
Pierre Bourdieu
Sociology is taught at KS5. It is the study of how human society develops and changes and how people interact with one another. The central aim of the A Level in Sociology is to examine relationships and inequalities between people and the effects that social, economic and political influences may have on them. Students will learn the fundamentals of the subject and develop skills valued by higher education and employers, including critical analysis, independent thinking and research.
