Good luck to all pupils and students who are taking their exams. See your teacher if you need any support.
We use Lexia PowerUp to target secondary-aged pupils who lack the basic reading, academic vocabulary, and comprehension skills necessary to fully access and engage in the secondary curriculum.
PowerUp literacy immerses students in an age-appropriate learning experience that is tailored to their individual strengths and weaknesses.
Activities in the word study strand target gaps in basic reading skills and develop academic vocabulary, providing students with the foundations they need for development of more complex reading skills.
Working through the grammar strand, students improve their written composition and reading comprehension skills and develop an understanding of parts of speech and sentences, correct use of capitalisation and punctuation, and overall text structure.
With the fundamental reading skills under their belt, students can begin to better understand what it is they are reading. In the comprehension strand, they learn and utilise the skills required for higher order text analysis across a variety of passages including academic texts.
