Work Experience Week Summer Term
Work experience week takes place at the end of the summer term for our Year 10 and Year 12 pupils and students. Pupils and students are expected to organise placements themselves, with the support of their tutors, the Careers Team and their parents and carers. See below for links to the resources pupils and students are provided with to support their Work Experience programme.
Ideally, this placement should be relevant to the career or HE course they are contemplating, or at least an opportunity for them to develop transferable skills. Work Experience should be arranged as early as possible, as some companies allocate places up to a year in advance.
Most universities expect that students will have done at least one Work Experience placement during their Sixth Form programme. Some vocational degree courses, such as Primary Education, demand two weeks’ relevant experience as an absolute minimum; students will need to discuss this with the Sixth Form team. Some students will have also have to consider completing additional placements during holiday periods.
